Why are some shirts dry cleaned instead of being laundered?
Occasionally, we have to dry clean a shirt instead of laundering it. Many shirts contain silk, linen, polyester and spandex. If the shirt has any adornment, trim or embroidery that may bleed, of if the care label indicates low heat, it needs to be dry-cleaned. If the shirt contains dyes that are water soluble (bleeds in water) or washing can cause excessive fading, dry-cleaning is recommended. Some heavy oily spots from foods etc... will not be removed alone with washing. The solvent used in dry-cleaning will need to be used to remove the excess oil.
